With more than 5,000 Gold Country weddings behind us and a foundation in the Japanese art of Ikebana, we bring a rare combination of artistry and experience to every celebration we design. PERSONAL FLOWERS
Bridal Bouquets & Personal Flowers
Your bouquet is the one arrangement you'll carry closest, and it tells your story in petals, texture, and scent. Susan designs each bridal bouquet as a singular work of art: a gathered poem of ranunculus, open garden roses, peonies, café au lait dahlias, seasonal foliage, and whatever blooms speak truest to your vision.
Whether you dream of a loose wildflower bouquet or something lush and romantic with layers of blush and ivory, every stem is chosen with intention. We love working with lilacs when the season allows, their fleeting beauty is a reminder to savor every small, precious moment.

CEREMONY DESIGN
Ceremony Florals That Frame Your Vow
The ceremony is where the day begins to feel real, and the flowers should meet you there with all the beauty the moment deserves. We design arches and arbors draped in seasonal blooms, aisle arrangements that draw the eye forward, ground installations that bloom at your feet, and altar pieces that frame your vows with living color.
We've styled ceremonies under ancient oaks at Hurst Ranch, beside the vineyards at Mount Brow, in the sunlit gardens of Union Hill Inn, and across the rolling grounds of Greenhorn Creek Resort. Every Gold Country venue has its own light and character, and we design ceremony florals that honor the space rather than compete with it.

RECEPTION FLORALS
Reception Design That Carries the Energy
The reception is where your celebration comes alive, and the florals should carry that energy from the first cocktail to the last dance. We design centerpieces, table garlands, sweetheart table styling, cake flowers, cocktail hour arrangements, and every detail in between, all woven together in a cohesive palette that feels effortless and intentional at once.
We love designing long organic garlands of mixed foliage and blooms that spill down farm tables, romantic centerpieces in collected vessels of varying heights, and sweetheart table moments that make you and your partner feel like the whole room was built just for you.

FULL ENVIRONMENT DESIGN
Full Venue Styling & Installations
Some weddings call for a complete transformation, where every corner, every sightline, every transition tells a single, seamless story. This is where Susan's eye as a trained Ikebana artist truly shines. We consider the entire environment: how guests move through the space, where the light falls at different hours, which textures will feel warm against stone, wood, or open sky.
From welcome arrangements and restroom florals to ceremony-to-reception repurposing and late-night lounge styling, full venue design is the fullest expression of what Sweet Lilacs does, and the reason couples across Gold Country trust us with their most important celebrations.

What Our Couples Say
“Susan at Sweet Lilacs made our wedding flowers look amazing. When I spoke with Susan I told her the colors and look we wanted, but otherwise did not have a specific vision and she helped me plan out exactly what we wanted! The bouquets were amazing. Thank you again Susan for helping bring our vision to life!”
— Molly F
“Fulfilled my vision to a T! I wanted peonies and soft romantic pink white and snow on the mountain as greenery with an olive leaf circular wreath as a backdrop. Susan delivered! Price was very reasonable and she went above and beyond even decorating for fresh flowers on the cake and cake table! Thank you Susan and Sweet Lilacs!
— Daisy B
“Need a florist for your wedding or special event? LOOK NO FURTHER. I'm actually still speechless how our wedding turned out. It all came together thanks to Susan's BEAUTIFUL and INCREDIBLE work. I sent her a mood board for our wedding and she ran with it. In my opinion, everything turned out better than my mood board! Everyone was commenting on the floral on the tables, my bouquet, and don't even get me started on our arch!! She was so easy, professional, and kind to work with. Thank you Susan, from the bottom of our hearts!”

A Few Things Couples Ask Us
-
We recommend reaching out six to twelve months before your date, especially for peak season weddings from late spring through early fall. That said, we've joyfully designed florals for couples who found us just a few weeks out, so if your timeline is tight, please still reach out. We'll always do our very best.
-
Of course, and we love it when you do. If there's a bloom that holds special meaning for you, tell us and we'll move mountains to include it. Susan will work with our growers to source exactly what you're dreaming of and complement your chosen blooms with textures and foliage that make them sing.
-
Every wedding is as unique as the couple behind it, so pricing varies based on your vision, the scale of your celebration, and the flowers in season. After your consultation, Susan creates a fully itemized proposal so you'll know exactly what you're investing in, with no hidden costs. We believe in honesty and transparency, always.
-
Absolutely. We regularly design for weddings across Northern California, Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe. If your venue is a little further afield, just ask, we travel for love.
-
Everyone is scared of this; but to tell you the truth, most people do. And it’s not a problem. We’ve had brides change their look three weeks prior to their wedding. Our absolute deadline is one month before your wedding. That is when we reserve the flowers and your order is locked in with the growers. We can work with you.
-
First send an inquiry with your date and venue information. If we are available, then we need a deposit to reserve the date. The deposit will be applied to the balance of your wedding. The balance is due two weeks before your wedding along with all your final decisions.

We Also Design Flowers for Elopements & Micro Weddings
For couples dreaming of an intimate ceremony in the Sierra Nevada, along the California coast, or anywhere the road leads, Sweet Lilacs designs elopement florals that carry the same artistry as our full-scale weddings.
